Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost Nipping at your nose.....
It's December friends! The holiday season is here! I've had such fun over the last week or so going through and decorating the house so I wanted to share everything I've done with you. I'd love to hear your thoughts or see what you are doing - tag me in your instagram pics with @littlehouseinlittleton!
Starting off where it all goes down...where the big man himself makes his appearance! I got these great stocking hangers from Target last year. I fell in love with the ones Pottery Barn was showing, but they were a little more than I was willing to spend. So lo & behold, when I happened upon these at my bargain store of choice, I HAD to have them. I spruced up the mantle with some greens and berries I found at Joann's fabrics just to make it a little more festive.
Oh, and yes...we do have stockings for the cats :)
This is a new piece for our house this year. I passed it when we were out furniture shopping for our new couch & chair and immediately could see years down the road when Audrey will be old enough to write letters to Santa. I can imagine her placing them in here and them whisking off to the North Pole. A great tradition I am hoping (to force) into being.
I really tried to bring Christmas throughout the whole house this year. So I put decorations up wherever I could find room.
When I was growing up, we had this hanging countdown to Christmas calendar where we would move a mouse into a different pocket each day until Christmas eve. It was one of my favorite things about the Christmas season. My dad made it an event every day - hiding the mouse around the kitchen so that we would need to find it before we could move it. It was a competition that caused excitement, laughter and joy.
This little tree with a snowflake that is moved each day reminded me of that mouse calendar. I take Audrey over each morning and we move the snowflake together. She doesn't get it yet, but I'm hoping she will soon.

You know you REALLY love coffee when you even decorate your drink station!
I'll confess....my mudroom does NOT often look like this. Its typically a mess with coats and shoes everywhere. However, I was cleaning it up a bit. Moving the spring & fall coats out for our winter ones and decided to stage this a bit. And can you blame me....how cute are those ugg boots??!? They need to be a focal point. (Thanks mom for this present for Audrey!)
And I'll leave you with this - our family tree - being looked after lovingly by Nala the ragdoll <3
Happy Holidays from my family to yours!
I hope you all enjoy the season with family, laughter & love.
